First of all, since my budget is tight, if not non-existent, I decided to make my website myself. And since I’m lazy sometimes and didn’t feel like figuring out how to do it, I used Weebly! Pretty cool actually. It works for me. Haven’t really added much to the site yet, but take a look if you want. Bookmark it maybe. www.katiealberry.com
In other news, I slaved away over a lino cut today and made some new prints. Hand carved, hand printed. Still working out the pressure issues with the hand press, but I got a few decent ones for now. I’ll be selling them soon hopefully.

Isn’t it pretty?

Finally updated my shop on etsy after all these years! krazykatie.etsy.com I only have one digital print listed right now, but I’ll be adding more in the coming weeks, so be sure to check it out. Plenty of things to blog about, but I have a cold again. Laying low for the next couple of days. That’s the plan at least. I’ll leave you with a random picture though, since pictures are fun.

This is from my second semester as a New Media major. Urban Safari Photoshop Midterm.

Finished the flier designs for my friends show, and I’m relatively satisfied with them. I’d love to spend a little more time, but I’m off to support my deejay friends at their premier event tonight called Intervention. Here’s to hoping they’re not upset that I’m only staying an hour or so. Sick, in need of more rest, and an extremely long day tomorrow. I have to be in good spirits for Opera at the Ball Park. If you’ve never been to Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory, I urge you to use this art installation as a reason to do so. I will leave you with these two photos of the designs.

Today I went to a new chiropractor. I’ll spare you the details. I was in such a good mood after I decided to go to Walgreens. I bought shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, shaving gel, foot insoles for my shoes, and corn remover pads. I felt good. Despite being sick.
Then I spent a couple hours at the Voice Factory helping a friend with her installation. I became the official designer of the flyers that should have been designed sooner, but it’s okay. I will now show you my sketches, and give you an idea of my night.

I will spend a decent portion of my day tomorrow drawing, painting and inking this.

This stuff is so gross I don’t even want to rotate the picture.

These are my ugly dolls, I’m going to crawl into bed with them now.

So I’m a little late to the party but I felt it was time for some Spring cleaning. To kick start a positive change and a new direction I want to go through all of my belongings and sell/donate the things that I really don’t need. I want to keep my books, and my art supplies. Give or take a few things here and there, that’s all I want and need.
I have also been meaning to do something with the change I’ve been collecting in a small vase for the past two years. It’s not much, since I often dug into it for bus fare and vending machines. Everyone keeps telling me to go to a CoinStar machine and get a gift card for it. That would indeed be the easiest solution, but it’s not what I want to do. What happened to the good ole’ days when we had to sort out all the change into piles, count them into appropriate denominations and roll them ourselves before lugging them off to the bank to throw at some poor teller?
I remember that when I was little I looked forward to when the jar was full enough for us to spend an afternoon doing that as a family. Back in the days of the ice storms, board games, and family tae-bo sessions in the living room (a collection of uncoordinated individuals stomping around like buffalo in a stampede). I decided to take the old school route, and now have my little piles of change. My next goal is to find the brown paper rolls and prepare a glass of wine for an evening of counting, re-counting, and double checking my re-counted piles of change.
After all of that hard work? THRIFT STORE SHOPPING SPREE. Probably with a whopping $20.
I was going to take a picture, but I was lazy. So instead I drew one in illustrator.

Couldn’t find paper or a sketchbook one night in a fit of distress, so I tore off a piece of a box. A piece of art was born. It’s not entirely finished yet, but here is a photo of my cardboard illustration and a blurry photo of my super tiny super messy workspace.

This was originally a sketch I did while on break at work. Tonight I decided to re-draw it, ink it, and paint it! Pretty happy with the finished result. I know I said I was only going to use this site for random sketches and thoughts, but my other site isn’t up yet. I’ll just leave this here for now. I guess I forgot to sign it before scanning. What’s new? No stealing. I’ll find you.

This is my first post on my new blog/makeshift website! I’m using this site primarily for my random thoughts, encounters, and doodles/sketches/comics. Everything that doesn’t quite make it into my life as a “professional artist” (HA!) will probably end up here. Still trying to find a suitable layout, but what can you do. It’s too bad I have no desire to learn CSS and the like. This is why I am no longer a New Media major. Stay tuned for good random fun. Welcome to my world.
PS- Here is a random doodle to hold you over. I know you’re on the edge of your seat in extreme suspense.

My interpretation of a San Francisco pigeon.
